So I have this theory that Teen Wolf is doing something really interesting in regards to the symbolism of the classical five elements and how the show uses those elements within their storytelling. It’s more than just the fact that each season seems to revolve around a single element, it’s that this element doesn’t just drive the material thematically, but also directly relates to the actual plot.
And, more than that, I think that when you dig a little deeper you find that each of these elements are also at the center of each of the main characters, both symbolically and in direct relation to their ultimate character arcs.

can I just take a moment to reflect on the fact that Teen Wolf is a show that
- is aimed at teenagers
- is incredibly well-written
- is sex positive
- shows realistic depictions of human relationships (parent-child, romantic, friendships)
- doesn’t pull any punches with its dark storylines
- and airs on MTV
has a poc main character
depicts woman as leaders and strong
no homophobia whatsoever
